Plein Air Relief Painting

On holiday with my Watercolors and a black and white pastel.  A little splashing around is a nice relief from more tedious methods. This is Cabana Shade, the first plein air painting off the block.

Checking out My progress on Morris's left hand in black and white tells me there's more work to be done. The fingers aren't dark enough on the shadow side.  Transferring paintings to black and white is a terrific way to check out the values and the composition.

The Slow Venetian Method has been slowed down even more these last months by my right knee.  I will schedule surgery when I get back.  I cannot sit while I paint.  I cannot stand for long when I paint. The knee needs attention!
