I found what I was looking for in my doc's waiting room--a Honda SUV. Perfect for JR's portrait; he's a Honda technician. I would have torn the page out, if there had been other patients around while my doc was passing through, but it was just him and me. So I called out, "How do you feel about people who tear pages out of magazines?" He looked at me with an odd expression and said, "Let me see the cover." I showed it to him, and he said, "Take it." I said, "Great." And that's how I got my drawing for the evening.
When I showed Honey the initial sketch--the very first sketch I'd ever made of a car, he said, "I was thinking of getting the CR-V." Get out of here," I said. "You saw the photo." He laughed and admitted he had looked at the odd magazine I had brought home. I started a new sketch. It would take a few more before I'd be up to the par of JR's drawing.
I will never understand how Honda could call the crv a suv... its so small.. I remember when my friend got her crv she was so thrilled about it.. frankly I felt like I was riding in a Corolla...Guess Honda wants buyers to think that theirs qualifies as one?

ReplyDeleteI don't think so. It's really a crossover. Crossovers are smaller. I didn't read the article through. I wanted the picture and was very surprised to find it in a mag I never expected to see in this particular doc's office. Anything that can tote anything is an SUV to me. I drive a sedan, I know nothing about toting. Honey does. He used to tote big (Lincoln), now he totes small, so he's considering smaller alternatives.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of buying American again. For years I drove the Cadillac Seville and then they radically changed it--actually got rid of it, so I went to Lexus. I love my Lexus--it has great big windows, no blind spots, excellent mileage, good drink cups, gets around in the snow, and maneuvers through traffic like a dream. But I've felt guilty having abandoned my state, my country. Next month, I'm going to take a look at the Cadillacs to see if anything's changed before deciding what to lease--or we may just buy the Lexus. I've got less than 18,000 miles on it and have had it for three years. I'm the little old lady from Pasadena.
