Second Place May Win First

Well Honey's favorite photograph did stimulate a robust use of color--and mediums for this quick impression this morning. I started out with markers,then went to pastels, then went to acrylics and back again to pastels. I liked the photograph,but the colors were too primary for me--yellow, red, blue; where were the lovely secondary and tertiary mixes that make paintings interesting and add depth? But in my determination to get a sketch somewhat like the photo, instinct took over and I started pushing the colors, in the process mixing them. My approach was looser than it was yesterday. I should start sketching with paint.
