Smorgasbord!

Bright Eyes, Graphite, Work in Progress, 6 x 8"

E. L., Graphite, 6 x 8", Thirty Minute sketch that took an hour plus.

Oasis, oil, 6 x 6" detail of shades of green. Work in Progress,
.

I have gone back to my old ways of painting when I painted slowly, deliberately, leisurely with no pressure to finish.  I'm working in small areas and taking lots of breaks to clear my head and refresh my viewpoint by going about my life's routines.   I am in no hurry.  My experience: hurrying leads to worrying.  I want  my balance back.

A balanced life doesn't make you a master craftsman, famous or wealthy.  It does make you happy, if you love a smorgasbord that includes time with family, time with friends, time at the easel, time at the drawing board, walks in the woods, cycling, reading, movies and even writing a blog every now and then.

  1. That sounds like a good life strategy! I should do that more myself. I love the bright eyes, fabulous drawing!

    1. Thanks. As soon as I started it, I knew it was going to take some time--same with Oasis. I love those eyes. I think the reflection in them could be changed to any subject that reflects (sorry for the pun) the artist's interests.

  2. A little bit of everything is a good way to go. Those eyes draw you in, the boy is strong and hopeful and the green oasis is very green. You should be happy, good work.

    1. Laying in the darkest 'green' values in the darkest area of the composition. I have never been fond of green, so I've always avoided the color. This painting is changing my mind slowly as I scumble through the grasses.

  3. Have good and peaceful Thanksgiving, dear Linda, with your loved ones and friends.
Our friendship born by chance on blogland, gave me many pleasant moments to be thankful !!!
Child's eyes, so lively through your artistic marks, seem to me eyes looking for world peace.

    1. Me too. There's a troubled, inquisitive look in them--probably due to all the madness that's going on in the world. A beautiful, happy, new human being in her little eyelet cap looking out in dismay at a topsy-turvy world. --or is that me? I cannot believe the evil that is attacking innocents. These terrorist groups are cancers.
