Work Off Impatience

Everybody's On The Phone, graphite, TMDD Series

Scumbling, Bumbling Along With The Tumble Weed.
These computer translations  of work in progress tell me where to move next: mouth/chin;
right cheek/right shoulder for starters.. There's lots more to go.

While the monochrome underpainting simplifies getting the right values, it does nothing for determining the palette.  That is still intuitive. Cerulean has been added. My darkest value is a more-or-less mix of TRO, VG with a smidge of UB.
I studied more of Holbein's portraits yesterday. His skin tones vary considerably from painting to painting that you know he had no formula.  His portrait of Sir Thomas Moor was his best. On later paintings and drawing, his surface was tainted pink, a mid tone from which he worked warmer or cooler, darker or lighter.

 Though I really would like to let loose with my brush, slow and steady with lots of patience is key .  When the urge hits, it's time to break.  I work off  impatience on the elliptical trainer.

    1. Thanks Danielle. 'Happy" takes bit of time to achieve. I imagine the public is getting tired of Erin. Me too, after an hour and a half. I fully understand how Todd Burrough's White Fountain took eight months; and I'm glad I decided to leave my self portrait in the monochromatic stage of development. I do love, however, seeing if I can do this. I always loved a challenge. Thanks for commenting. Comments keep me encouraged. .
