Blunders and Boo-Boos

Blunders:

Bringing a watercolor block and making myself dependent on having a knife handy. Better to have brought two WC pads.

Ritz Carlton Blue, abstract, 9x12, first installment, may or may not get a second look? While Ellis napped, I painted per my custom in the afternoon. Throughout the session, I kept thinking I should have brought some pastels. There's a lot of combination watercolor and pastel paintings hanging on walls around the hotel. Respectable work.

Boo-Boos:

I took a nasty fall on the way to the banos. I stubbed my toe on an unmarked, raised threshold and down I went bruising chin, shoulder, bum knee and the palms of my hands. As luck would have it, I was walking with a hotel manager and his protege. After I was restored to upright, he took our room number. I'm hoping he'll send me a bottle of good champagne. The sparkling wine they served last night was pink and sweet. Ellis is hoping our stay will be free. In his dreams.

    1. We got nada. In this law suit crazy world, they should have sent a bottle of wine or basket of fruit. They are lucky I'm a sweetheart of this hotel and really did't get hurt. But that threshold in the States is in violation of the building codes in all 51 states. I guess in Mexico, level or ramp type thresholds aren't the law.

I like your blue abstract....to tell the truth, I like all your abstracts!!
Enjoy Christmas and the New Year and best wishes to you and yours. Take care.

    1. Thanks Tito. That abstract is gone. I listened to Ellis and went into it again and lost the freshness. All that's left is a photograph. I really have to learn to go with my instincts. Ellis know nothing about art. I don't know why I let him throw me.

    1. Ellis discovered that my fall wasn't my clumsiness or negligence. He told me if the manager and his protege hadn't opened the door for us and distracted me by their presence I wouldn't have taken the spill. It was their politeness that took my eye off the ball. Nonetheless, as builders such treacherous thresholds are unacceptable and if they are there, they must be painted so bright color to catch people's attention.

    1. The watercolor no longer exists. I let myself be intimidated by Ellis. It was rough, but the colors were right on. Live and learn.

So far both of us have taken a fall. Ellis in the pool and me in the doorway. I'm getting an I'm getting old complex. I'm going to have my bum knee done when I get home. I'm sick of being unsure on my feet. It's humiliating.
