Grand River in Grand Rapids, A Giant Art Town

The GRAND RIVER in Grand Rapids. I attemted to post this via e-mail last Wednsday, but failed. I guessed the wrong address.  I'm doing it now, two minutes after getting home, to see if this works. It did. You live and learn.

This photo was the view from our room in the JW Marriott. We were on the 21st floor; there are 23 floors in this impressive contemporary structure. We never did see the grand rapids, but the city was an amazing surprise full of great art, architecture and restaurants just a couple of hours down the road.

I'll process all the photographs I took tomorrow. For today, it's ice packs on the knees on the couch watching movies. These legs were made for walking, but not as much walking as we did in this small town in Michigan with miles of art. Who knew our trip was going to be a marathon!

    1. It's a shame there aren't freezers in the rooms Kathryn. Then I could take along my two knee specific bagels. All they've got are plastic bags and an ice machine--and they call themselves a luxury hotel! Next time on a trekking excursion, Twistem' will be in the bag.

    1. The view was awesome Jane. Across the river, but not in this instant picture I snapped with my phone, were the Grand Rapids Public Museum with the Spillman Carousel and the Gerald R. Ford Museum. Both were visible from our room as were the roads we'd take to get there by car and then park. One glance out the window, we knew it all and saved time stopping to ask for directions.

    1. Stimulating Michael. Body is worn, but heart is full and mind is eager to spill forth treasures reaped from just a few hours spent looking, feeling, thinking.
