Flowers Beget Flowers

THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2012: WINTER DAISIES #4:

I reached for my white acrylics automatically for this one. When no pre-drawing is done, the desire to over-paint to balance composition comes naturally to this painter. I've always liked mixing it up with people, activities and painting mediums.

AND LOW AND BEHOLD,THE FLOWERS I'LL BE PAINTING NEXT WEEK were just dropped on my doorstep! Thank you Lansing Loved Ones. They are a glorious kick-off for the first day of my seventy second year--even the armadillo turned around!

  1. Hi Linda.
First of all, A very Happy Birthday to you. You have still got to go another ten years to catch me up.
Lovely paintings Linda. Keep them coming. All the best to you, especially this special day.
    Vic.

  2. You're always going to be ahead of me, but who's racing? The florals are fun especially if you paint the feeling of them. I was thinking this morning whether I was a daisy or a rose? Daisies being carefree and sturdy; roses being formal and delicate. My answer was daisy. They always make me smile while roses make me groan thinking how susceptible they are to black spot in a summer with a just a tad too much rain. what kind of flower are you Victor? I'll bet you never asked yourself that.

  3. The flower on the bottom left is wonderfully rendered (I don't know my flowers) and the hinted at flower top right outlined in blue I just love. The purple tones I just love. I really enjoy your watercolors!

  4. I owe that flower totally to acrylic white and working it in while the watercolor base was still wet. I do like mixing the mediums--and those times you paint spontaneously with no pre-drawing are the times to do it. Thanks Margaret.
