Looking Closer

LOOSE SEEMS TO BE PASTRIES FOR ME--at least with watercolors on paper. I'll see today how the subject translates to canvas. I primed a previously used canvas, 20" x 20", for a trial run with acrylics and laid down the background color on the actual canvas I intend to use for this second of three paintings in a triptych.

  1. I like these and they would definitely work as a triptych... Your brush strokes definitely make these pieces.

  2. Is the cream cake in the third painting vegan? *LOL*
    I love it.
Wonderful colors and a very interesting and energetic brushwork.
Last week I got the results of my blood test (I heard on YT that vegans should do this twice a year) and everything is perfect. I also take B12, zinc, iron and biotin supplements. Just in case I don't get enough of it. And I read a lot.
Since I'm vegan some of my allergies are gone and it's really true that I feel detoxified and see things more clear. Somehow a strange experience but I enjoy this. I read about this phenomenon but never thought it would turn out like this for me too.
Have a wonderful weekend! It's a good light outside now. I think I'll go out for a walk with my camera :-))).

  3. Thanks Chris, It's nice to be back doing what I started nineteen months ago.

  4. Joe I am so glad you just didn't jump into Veganism on a whim like so many gals do. I don't know whether I could do that, but have thought about it. I imagine the transition is a difficult adjustment?

  5. OMG--Where have I been?! I think I used to jump over here from Kathy's blog & lost track. Anyway your work is vibrant & beautiful! Excellent. Inspiring. (& btw I totally agree with you about congress irresponsibility, term limits, & the sad loss of our manned space program - yes, I've looked back a ways. :)

  6. Thanks Dan. I enjoyed your work too. the ink thing is a thing I've never been able to totally eliminate. It adds strength to watercolor, but that composition of yours needed no strength added; it was superb.

  7. It's looking good. Love your watercolours - especially the first piece. Very confident, bold stokes and colours. Yeah, a triptych would be nice.

  8. One panel at a time Evelyn. While I really like the subject, it's the handling of it in a larger format and a different medium. Just keep on painting.

  9. I love how you painted these like your apartment was on fire; moving fast and then you got out'a there. Whew!!

  10. Thanks Carrie,
I am always fighting the "nailed down" look of art--like there's nothing else that could be done. It's too static for me and lifeless. Now if I can get that vigorous, energetic, immediacy on larger canvases I'll be happy.
