Pastry Winter

Made a fews more cupcakes. What amazes me about them is how much more difficult they are than sweaters and blouses, Out of The Closet, (pictured right). When I chose the subject matter, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. It was just a sweet idea.

With Closet, I just laid out the shapes, painted them in and added the patterns. The painting was more design than picture. Chocolate Mice, with cupcakes, on the other hand, is a picture with solid forms. Spacial depth is an important element. Lighting is a factor, as is the direction of the brush strokes. Anyway, it's not going to be a quicky, but I'm in for the long haul. I'm in fascination with the concept and the format. With two more similar paintings to do,this is going to be a pastry winter.

Actually, your pastries are making me hungry -- and that's a good thing :-)

  3. The pastry painting with the cheesecake in the middle is my favorite. Maybe it is the angles in the middle - you've used the same color scheme in all of them. Nice idea.

  4. Thank you Margaret. The pastries are great fun, but work--trees and foliage are a breeze next to cupcakes and hard coated chocolate mice.

Agnes, I was getting hungry painting them. And Honey commented as he passed by, "How come we don't buy cupcakes anymore? I love them." If he could relate, the painting must be coming along okay.
