Get My Back, 6 x 8, Graphite, TMDD Series 2015 |
The hunks are getting slathered up for a day in the sun. This guy, a great specimen of manhood, youth and a yearly membership at the fitness club, asked his wife to get his back. He caught my eye and every other woman's; We all wanted to give her a hand.
I spent the morning with his pects and abs. Tomorrow I'm looking forward to a lower body workout. I started to do him in a line drawing till his bulk made me turn the lead on its side and go after the volume in his Adonis form--not over the top, just enough and just right.
Well ... you have successfully tackled another difficult pose, twisted torso and hunched over a bit.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I'd better be able to size up a pose after all those life drawing classes. Every Saturday morning I get up thinking I should go over to the art center for their open studio 'figurative' drawing session, but I pour myself another cup of coffee instead. I think I had my fill--and besides, none of the guys looked like this one. They were either under developed or over developed. I'd rather go guy watching on the beach.
DeleteTILL SUMMER THEN ... :)
DeleteTill next December. Till then, Ellis will have to do.
DeleteYour description makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteI'm not dead yet. 😄
DeleteI can see your viewpoint, in every way! I'd like to look at him!
ReplyDeleteFun draw.
DeleteGreat specimen, great drawing! :)
ReplyDeleteI love drawing specimens. It's an okay drawing. Specimens come out better in a larger format than 6 x 8. The body has such lovely gestural curves you can't really do as beautifully on a small piece of paper. He'd be good in charcoal or a nice paint wash. Loose.
