Ellis and Me, Charcoal Study #1 |
Ellis and Me doctored in "Paint" |
The girls will remain as is--dripping first impressions. They no longer interests me; I got their stance and that was enough for that small format.
Ellis and Me interests me. It's a good photo to use for the front of a holiday greeting card. It's not too early to start in on that given that September and October may be spent in physical training?
After cropping and changing the original photograph to black and white, I transported it toPaint where I consolidated the background and blackened out the white that was my bare shoulder. I just wanted the faces--particularly Ellis'. I did a practice in Charcoal. What you see is the first pass. Ellis looks a lot like Walter Matthau. A few more passes are needed before
touching canvas--practice or otherwise. Ellis' nose is a lot nicer than Walter's was, but his acting leaves a lot to be desired.
Oh what a great photo and drawing! I saw the thumbnail on my blog, and I just love the pose!
ReplyDeleteHe does need some refining Judy and I am incidental in the photo, but thank you. I think it says Happy Holidays. The inside of the 4 sided note card will be blank so I can write a personalize greeting. On the back, I'll probably do a portrait promo? A kid's head--or JD if I'd get a move on. That may be tacky, but if not now when?
DeleteA photo fascinating for a drawing that enchants!
ReplyDeleteYou and Ellis are a beautiful couple with two special characters and picture highlights this as well as the drawing.
It makes me smile that you've changed the photo because even I work with my selected images on my computer.
It 'a moment of study that I love very much.
The computer is so obedient and does what I want more than my brush...!
You've got to play with the photos on the computer. We're painters planning a painting. We're digital photographers with limitations built into our cameras that need attention. It's part of the work. I just wish I had Photoshop. I haven't broken down enough to spend the money, but I bet it fabulous software that could keep me tied to the computer for days. Photography is as much a love of mine as drawing and painting. --Thanks Rita. Ellis and I are very fortunate to have found each other in this life. I think this photo shows how thrilled we are.
DeleteSuper become very nicely done hugs Danielle
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle. It's a start to understanding the points and planes Ellis and I have in common in this pose.
DeleteYou seem to be having fun with this painting Linda. Not so surprising considering the good models! :) I think it's a great idea having you both on a Christmas card. Can't wait to see the next stage. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI do love that pose! Great drawing...excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love this study. It has contrast structures and great character.
ReplyDelete"Ellis and Me" interest me also!

Linda, I think this photo of you and Ellis is just stunning - so much personality and joy is evident. Its so apparent that you adore each other and it certainly is a heart warming thing to see. Your preliminary sketch is a great start and I can't wait to take a front row seat and see what you end up with!
ReplyDeleteThe love in the relationship comes through as does your sunshine personality.
ReplyDeleteI love the strong linkage through the dark and light patterns.
