Give The Girl A Hand!

  Munchkin, Graphite, 6" x 8"

Thirty minute drawings can go a week or more when life butts in. I got around to giving her a couple as soon as I cleared my board of an art project of a different nature.

Now for something of substance in paint.

    1. I finally did get some time to further define her hands and tweak her features towards a better likeness"this kid looks like a bundle of energy. I hope I caught that.

    1. I hit the paint this week! It's been ages. I am currently murdering my three sons, an old painting I was more or less experimenting with--who else can you experiment on than close family members who are used to seeing themselves painted grotesquely? As I kept wanting to do unconventional skin tones, I realized just yesterday,I was thinking like the Fauves. Word just ca,e to me cooking dinner! So I did a quick art history review and sure enough I was on the path of the "Wild Beasts."

    1. Love doing them. No fuss, no muss, not a lot of tools. This is graphite stick with two or three soft lead pencils. Out of fixative, (I forgot to ask Ellis to pick up a can), I used hairspray to fix the work. Does the job and smells better.

  4. Hi Linda.
Fantastic drawing of the [ittle Girl. Also i liked your writing and the drawing of Judith Bernstein. Also you made me smile when you said that you had run out of Linseed Oil. I was at Life classes yesterday evening, and although I usualy just draw the figure, but i tried the face only and i made a mess of it. Oh to draw Faces as good as you. All the best Linda.

    1. Thank you Victor for your energizing words. I do love watching and drawing people's expressions when they are just living their lives and don't know they are on camera. I use Berol and General. This was a combination of Berol HB, 3 B and 6B with some graphite stick.

  6. Is this the new look of Blogger? I don't like someone coming in the back door and changing the template around. This black and white design is a bit,too fussy for me. Did anyone else experience a change in their layout?

  7. Love the elfin face, ready to burst into mischief! You're really good at these sketches you know... of course you know, you don't pretend.

Glad your back into paint and doing battle with the boys once more. You've had your ups and downs with that painting; one day you'll get it the way you want it, or throw it through the window.

    I thought you'd always had a b & w template!

    1. No! All black. I don't know where this came from. I do enjoy the drawings. Paintings are something else--at least My Guys. When I started it I knew I anted something grotesque, but so far haven't achieved it to the degree I had in mind. The reference photo was taken with a film camera and a flash which made some weird colors on the print that I found fascinating. When I got into the painting, however, I got involved with likenesses and forgot it was the weird color's that appealed to me. Till a couple of days ago. I'm still in the timid state though. I have to get rid of the notion I will ruin the piece if I let go. Maybe tomorrow. Meanwhile it's a carefree project , perfect for getting involved again. To balance things out, I have a Venetian method painting taking shape. The pencils are somewhere in between.

So, did you clean out the local book store? I did when my son's book was published.

    2. There are none sold locally - she sells in a 'modern' world that doesn't seem to recognise book stores. However, it looks like she has sold the translation rights to Indonesia!!
