A Painting Atop A Painting Atop A Painting

I began this watercolor in Cancun. Painted on top of it the first day we were at the pool here in Vegas, four months later. Painted on top of it again today when I arrived at the STOP AND SIGN point. That point became clearer over this past year with every drawing and painting worked on. It was done strictly free association with nothing particular in mind.

  1. I really like the colors and abstract shapes in this one, Linda. In my mind it is a landscape and I love letting my imagination go wild with it.
Hope you enjoyed yourself in Navada as much as you appeared to be doing.

    1. Truthfully, you can have Vegas if it were not a convenient spot to hook up with my son. The reason I picked up this Cancun start was because Ellis said he wouldn't carry my paint satchel to the pool one more time if I wasn't going to paint something. The something was the start of a seascape on the watercolor block left over from our Cancun trip. Now it's reminiscent of the grounds around this hotel. Once I got started, I was into it. Sure, I could go into details, but it's pretty balanced so time to move on. I have managed to get some expressive heads for my morning drawing sessions or better yet the little canvases I primed before leaving home.

    1. Thanks Danielle. When I got to the point where I felt it had atmosphere and depth, I thought it was a good place to stop. Looking at it here, I think it needs a touch here and there--but not till I get home.

    1. There was a beach scene there. Then I sketched a couple of women. Then I just played with color. Now I'm thinking I need some definition, but not till I'm home and have access to my colored pencils or conte. I didn't feel like starting something fresh. We are exhausted. We just ventured out into the Mojave Desert to see a retirement community. After living in the green water wonderland of Michigan our whole lives, the place looked hot, barren, rocky, dry and totally foreign. Tomorrow, we're going home to enjoy Spring.

    1. Sorry to hear. Cortisone and PT does get to be a part of life in the golden years. I hope Spring is springing in Boston. After living in Nevada for just nine days, Michigan Spring, cold as it is, is a beautiful sight.
