More Art Rage

Another iPad doodle with the Art Rage app.  I did start this drawing using my markers, but let it go when I discovered I had to go down to the studio to get a watercolor brush. I really thought I had left one on the first floor in a cabinet in the kitchen. Well I did take a step back towards a real medium. In this art app, I seem to prefer the bold stroke of the paint roller tool, followed by the eraser.  While they do offer a technical pen, the fine line isn't fine enough for me.   As for the capital A to the left of the bottom corner of the photo, I have no idea how to get rid of that. That's evidence of my lack of knowledge on working with the iPad Blogger app.  And so it goes.

    1. Thanks Agnes, but this isn't Seurat enough. I changed tactics midstream. I had a good excuse, a friend paid me a visit and we spent a couple of hours non-stop chatting--exhausting after days of just Ellis and me and recoup quiet time. I'm sure my chat stamina will recover as the knee recovers. I'm really doing well--just not well enough to baby step down to get that paint brush, tomorrow's goal.

  3. How sweet you are Martine! This iPad has saved my life these last two weeks. I know I signed up for this correction, but I had no idea how shut off I was going to be on the way back to wellness--or how much lying around was involved. The experience made me glad I sold that portrait for this device. The time out is perfect for exploring this art app. I have four more art apps that I haven't really explored yet, but hopefully my recovery will not be that long. I will get that brush tomorrow and maybe some watercolor supplies...

  4. Hi Linda,
Sorry, only cyber flowers today, but how 'bout a compliment to brighten your day? This is REALLY, REALLY Good. You have, without a doubt, found a new and wonderful medium to express yourself. This is successful on every level and it's a great likeness besides. You should have operations more often! Kidding, just kidding. Since I've endured torn meniscus and retinal re-attachment surgery, I hope I'm allowed to crack wise a little.
This will all soon be behind you and a year from now you'll wonder if it was all just a dream. Funny, and wonderful, how the brain works.
Anyway, keep doing these Ipad portraits and I'll keep slinging the compliments.
    Keep smiling and working hard,
    Gary.

    1. Thanks for the hope Gary. To think I put my left knee through this for no improvement horrifies me. Cortisone wasn't doing the trick anymore, so I had no other choice but to take those steps into the surgical theater--and I did walk out. Now to shake the pain of a healing wound. These electronic drawing apps are fascinating. No standing allowed, just lay there, ice and play. No water necessary. No brush. Just touching the right tool and dragging your finger. The right tool is the challenge. While not art as we think of it, these drawings do print up well and endlessly--or until you've bled the printer dry--for postcards, greeting cards, etc. I also suspect I might be able to do drawing in one app and transfer to another. I haven't played around with that yet, but if you can inset photographs....and blow them up, maybe? I can't wait for all this to be just a crazy dream.

    1. Thanks Michael. It's child's play and does make me lose track of time as I mend.

    1. The app and iPad have been great these recoup days. Nevertheless, I did the one step down to the lower level yesterday to get a brush and did apply water to a water marker drawing I had started. The itch had to be scratched. Unfortunately I had been heavy handed and the paper couldn't take it. At the end of the day, I had nothing to show, but the success of going back to work.

I think I need more practice with this app. The portrait is a mosaic. I'd prefer more blended areas. The practice is keeping my eye sharp.

  7. Lots of emotion in this!

You are right about the ability to import photos, stuff from elsewhere. Have fun discovering it.

    1. Thanks Jean. I was hoping you would confirm my suspicions. Plenty of hanging in there going on here, but each day, there are advancements.

    1. Getting better everyday, but I am, we are, suffering from cabin fever. Ellis and I are getting snappy with one another. It's time to break out of here. Digital art has saved my mind. Exploring the capabilities of this one app, kept me intrigued and has made time fly.

    1. Not so brilliant Ashok. Just a way to keep me drawing while waiting to heal that's far more fascinating than crayons.

    1. That letter was a gift from the program. Writing on the iPad is difficult, but I don't have the stamina yet to sit too long at the computer. Before the A there was Mmmmm. Now where did that come from? I just published a post I have been writing for three days. When I was reading it aloud to Ellis, (an excellent test for smooth flow), the rewrites were mixed in with the edits. Corrections were incorrect. So I just took it back and will try to salvage the final piece. Weird? No. The device has limitations. I'm wishing for a Microsoft Surface for Hanukkah. The trouble with my wish is I want the Pro model.
