And The Liebster Blog Award Goes To...

Watercolor Study of Erin; I see a budding Lolita in her expression.

At the crack of dawn I was off to get an endoscopy of my upper digestive tract; an hour and a half later, I got home. My esophagus was the best 71 year old esophagus, the doctor had ever seen. I should have been a gastroenterologist. All the chairs in the waiting room were filled. All the beds in the clinic were filled. He was knocking EG whatevers out of the ball park. Now, I'm just a bit hung over from the fabulous drugs. I asked the anesthesiologist to ask me about my ring while I was out, but he thought I was joking. And I wasn't out long enough to find out myself. Damn. Now I'm restricted to laying around all day, not making any serious decisions or driving heavy machinery (just when the back forty needs mowing)

What else does one do when restricted? I surf the net. I checked in here first and lo and behold  find Konstantina awarded me the Liebster blog award! Just in time to lift my spirits. She's a sweetheart.

This award doesn't come without responsibilities however. I have to pay my admiration forward to five other blogs with less than 200 followers that I consider fantastic and very worthy and they have to do the same, but not if they don't feel like it. I feel like it.

It would be my pleasure to honor: 1) Art By Roger 2) Gatepost Pictures; 3) Jean's Paintings; 4) Sharon Wright Artist; 5) Kathryn Ragan. Congratulations blog buddies. You all do inspirational work and  are always encouraging.

And now the sticky part of accepting this award: I have to tell you five personal things that you don't know.  This is a tough one; I'm a pretty open book... okay: 1) I've never put gas in my car; 2) I don't read newspapers; 3) I play Sudoku first thing in the morning on the commode; 4) I repaint my front door Chinese red, after the painter for the condo association paints it somebody else's horrible idea of mauve; and 5) I don't drive an American car because their windows aren't big enough and my peripheral vision is limited.

ADDENDUM: Sorry guys, I got all the links wrong, not just Roger's.  I must still have been under the influence of the anesthetic or putting the links in in HTML mode wasn't a good way to do it? (that's how I did).

  1. I'm sorry, Linda! Every day something happens that is not exactly pleasant!

Your blog is really so special!
    I'm really happy that Konstantina
gave you the award "favorite blog"! So, this chain of sympathy and respect from fellow bloggers continues...
Today is the birthday of my daughter, but it is far away (in Spain) right now, so I and Danilo we celebrated by going for a walk by yourself, eat very well and feel on holiday! At the end, is her celebration, but also for us!

    Your portrait,Linda, is alive!!!

    1. Happy birthday to your daughter! I'm sorry you and Danilo didn't get to celebrate with her. It's hard on us when our children live so far away. We are out of their lives; they are out of ours. Very sad and not the healthiest way to live for anyone.

The watercolor wasn't planned; I just did it free hand from a photo I took of her because my supplies were handy and I had an hour before dinner. I'll probably do an oil. The expression is so provocative for a ten year old.

The endoscopy went very well.I was the one who thought we needed to take a look at my esophagus; I have esophageal constrictions from time to time due to acid reflux. I needed reassurance that no damage was being done. I'm just pooped out right now--too pooped to paint--but the rest of me feels fine.

    2. I also had this scopy for reflux ... there was nothing serious and reflux remained.
Or a medicine or a careful diet.
I chose the diet, even if ... occasionally need medicine.
      And we go...dear Linda!

    1. Thanks Judy. I'm glad Konstantina enjoys my blog, so I could tell the world about some of the blogs that I enjoy that have under 200 followers. Actually, it was hard choosing. I follow all the blogs I've got listed and comment whenever new things are posted; they are all worthwhile.

Painting is okay. Wet into wet, my usual watercolor play, for about an hour. An oil is coming up of this one.

  3. I understand that the procedure wasn't pleasant at all(I had one years ago and felt like ...well uncomfortable), but at least the news are good and at the end of the day -when the effect of the drugs go away- it's all that matters!
Lovely 5, Linda!! Both blogs and list of unknown little informations about you!
The portrait of Erin is wonderful, I love the colors and of course the expression... A budding Lolita? Definitely!
    Warm regards.

    1. The procedure went like cake.It didn't hurt. I was nervous. I was home in an hour and a half and reasonably able with the exception of being able to do links correctly. Sorry I got it wrong. I've corrected that. Thank you again for the honor.

I think this shot of Erin will make a good oil study--better than the watercolor, which was convenient.

  4. Well, this comes as a surprise. Was admiring the colorful watercolor painting, kept on reading, congratulation by the way, and thanks for thinking of me.
I love your blog, how you share what you think, feel and what you do.

    1. Not only yours, but everybody elses! Write? Yes. Paint? Yes. Computer Savvy? Not so much. I put the links in in the HTML mode of composing and that obviously is not how you do it; I have to be in compose mode. It's been rectified.

Thanks Roger, I love your paintings. I admire that you have a consistent, strong style and medium. Your paintings are recognizable as being uniquely your. I do not, have never, but would like to be more like you.

    1. Overly bright perhaps? What do I know about watercolor; it's a medium I keep banging my head over, but I have always liked to play in the water, so I always will. I might have been too truthful with that.

  7. Somehow, some day, we have to get together! You'll show me how to be bright and loose in watercolor, and I'll show you how to be tight and completely perfectionistic - only in wc. Erin looks fabulous! And I am happy for you and your healthy esophagus :) As for the award, I am thrilled! It is the first blogger award I have received. Thank you, Linda. Now, get out and mow that back 40!!!

    1. No, I'm going to leave the skillful part of watercolor to you who does it so well and does show us how. Me? I'm wet into wet. I like to swim. I like to play in the water. I like to keep one medium that I can just fiddle about with. I have a heavy foot on the gas. and I have a heavy hand with a brush. Gestural is me whether it's acrylics, oils, watercolor. Not pencil. That's why I adore John Simlet's work and a new guy I just found, James Morgan Williams. I do do lunch though. Where did you say you lived?

Erin is looking good in your watercolors.
