DRAWING-OF-THE-DAY-IS DEAD--SPACE JUNK FLOATING AROUND THE WEB TILL IT DISINTEGRATES--PAST FOLLY. L.W.ROTH IS CUTTING BACK ON PLAYFUL LITTLE SKETCHES AND WATERCOLORS AND BLOGGING WORDY POSTS. SHE'S SERIOUSLY IN THE STUDIO FEELING THE MUSIC, PUTTING PAINT TO CANVAS SFP.

  1. Tell me that you are not thinking of ending this blog!! I hope you mean it will now be Drawing-of-the-Week or Drawing-of-the-Particular-Day-that-I-Feel-Like-Posting.

Your playful watercolors are wonderful! You may not think they are much, that they are not serious, but they are so lively and exciting, unlike often-seen insipid flowers that watercolors are too well known for. They are as alive and legit as your paintings on canvas. They cannot be compared to the shlock we see elsewhere. So if the muse takes you there, follow.

But if the muse makes you paint on canvas, then go to the studio! Turn up the music!

And you needn't be wordy. A few comments are good enough.

    So don't go..

I'm going to listen to the blues...

  2. Good morning Linda.
I agree with all that Dan says. Although I enjoy your witty comments, It will be great if we see your Paintings on canvas, Landscapes, Seascapes and portraits I hope. It all sounds interesting Linda. I like this self portrait. All the best with your turn around.
    Vic.

  3. Dan I really thank you for your very kind comments. I'm not going to give up the blog; it's too good a tool for seeing what's going on. And I'll probably write too. I'm female, words are us. I just got rid of the title. I thought you were right; it was boring--not that L. W.Roth is more attractive, but it is how I sign my work, which is moving at the moment towards paintings that aren't dashed off in a day. I was just having a moment on the fence. I think I need to take my stuff out of the lonely studio to market--and expose myself to rejection, (nobody loves me but my mother and she could be jiving me too), or worse: getting into the business of art. Something that scared me all my life. Doing business can take the art out of your art--florals sell better than landscapes, do more florals.

  4. Gosh Victor, "witty comments?" I don't know about that. Making art,one must be able to laugh at themselves for some days jokes on paper are all that you can do. As I told Dan though, I will find it hard not to write, being female and excessively wordy by nature. --Did you know that women show how much they love with words? If your wife is talking your head off, you can find peace in knowing she is head over heels in love with you. If she has said nothing all day long, you my friend are in deep...need I say more?

  7. Thank you Joan and Ann. I'm sorry if I implied I was dropping the blog. I was just having a moment of evaluating how I had been doing it. The title had become inaccurate, a "working title", something I chose at that moment, two years ago, when I decided to get back to my art and drawing,( albeit sketching), daily was the way to do it. Now I'm painting, but I don't knock those off. They take some time. The long and the short of it is: I'm keeping the old blog, but I need a new title. I used the signature I use on my work. I could and maybe should have used my website URL? As for posting. I'll still post when I have something to post--and by the length of this answer, do you really think I'll be able to keep my hands off this keyboard? I doubt it.
