Good Week That Was

Even though I didn't get as far as I would have liked with the "Big Winter of 2012," I'm giving you a sneak peek at the 36" x 36" canvas I'm working on now. I haven't gone as dark as I want as yet. And it hasn't snowed on the canvas as yet--perhaps today, maybe tomorrow, probably next week. I've given myself to the end of the month to finish. --Victor E. yes, this is a painting in progress. (Big ones move slower than little ones--just like in life). I know I said I wouldn't show it till finished, but some folks like to see how paintings develop over time--me being one of them. Seeing it translated into photography is the farthest step back I can take that will give me an idea of what's needed next, (gray the violet). Photographic translations are a wonderful art tool.

As for the little stuff:

THE BEST OF THE WATERCOLOR EXERCISES IN THE DAISY-LIKE RHYTHM CATAGORY:

THE BEST OF THE WATERCOLOR EXERCISES IN THE SANS GUIDELINES CATAGORY: DAFFODILS
from last week's bunch. The painting is simple and gives the impression of effortlessness.

Different flowers inspire different strokes, different responses to their rhythms. My brushes jumped with the daisies and waltzed with the daffodils. I'm interested to see how they will respond to the roses that arrived on my doorstep yesterday. I appreciate roses, but the delicate flowers of love do require a lot of loving care--they are very high maintenance.

  1. Yes, both have a different feel. The addition of the red on the second is wonderful. I think you have a very nice touch with watercolor!

  2. Welcome back Margaret! I didn't know there was an on-line art university...very interesting. I do recall your wonderful painting of your grandmother's house--blue, pretty gardens. You did a memorable job there. Kudos for looking to perfect your craft.

  3. Hi Linda.
What can I say but all beautiful. Keep them coming my friend. You have given me a hard one there to decide what Flower I am. I asked my Wife and she said a Tulip. I don`t know where she got that one from but she said that I am very upright. My favourites are Daffodils and Irises.
    All the best Linda.
