As white flakes are flying outside my window, I washed up my paint brushes and put Winter aside. It's observation time for this painting and Four Seasons. Fall and Winter are about the same weight as are Spring and Summer. Winter needs a few more touches, but nothing much. Fall may have to be grayed a bit to connect more with the Winter. Up on the wall, it's time to give it a rest. Time will tell if the paintings make it or not as a quadtyck.
I can tell you this: Winter was not a piece of cake. Painting pastries was much more fun.
I don't think I'll ever attempt a quadtyck. Just having ONE painting good enough on its own is enough of a challenge for me.

I do. You caught me. But this one doesn't look like it's working. That's okay too. As it stands, it's four painting related by location: they are all scenes from my backyard.

I loved to know why you think they are complex scenes Evelyn. Determination, bull-doggedness,are Capricorn traits. I do believe that life is complex and the shite, as well as the rewards are in the details. We were told to ignore the details in our student days at art school, but it's the details that fascinate me. In the design field, that was a good thing. In the fine art field, it may not be?

Those paintings are the woods behind my house as they look to me in different seasons. There aren't any picturesque cabins or cottages like where you are--just a lake that I can only see covered with snow during the winter months. I punched up the color on that one. Had to. Winter is too bleak just to paint as is.

ReplyDeleteThanks Agnes. As we get closer and closer to winter, we can see more and more lake from our back windows. The lake is that horizontal whitish area just before the tree line in the background. Lakes are serene, more so in winter I think than summer. Others, however, might think lakes look "desolate" when they see them frozen and covered with snow; I think they look peaceful, particularly when it's snowing.
