Hey, What Kind of Flowers are Those?

HERE IN THE MIDWEST US, WE CALL 'EM COTTON BALLS.

THEY BLOOM EVERY YEAR ROUND THIS TIME.

A VERY DELICATE FLOWER.

NOT GOOD FOR CUTTIN'--NOT GOOD FOR NOTHIN'

THE SLIGHTEST BREEZE WILL KNOCK 'EM OFF THE TREE.

AND THEN THEY JUST DISAPPEAR LIKE THEY WERE NEVER THERE. THE BLOOMIN' COTTON BALLS.

  1. I love ANY white flower! At least you don't have to rake up fallen, dried petals!!! Lovely pics.

  2. Great photos and great humor. Bonnie's right--no raking.

  3. Bonnie, Hallie, I'd give anything to rake anything right now. I do not recall a winter with such continuous precipitation. I look outside every morning and I wonder if I'm not in Minneapolis--not that Minneapolis isn't a lovely city, but it really is visited best in the summer. The Walker is a museum treat.
