I used to think I didn't. A while back, I noticed that my style was influenced by my subject--certain subjects called for this treatment, others called for that. It bothered me alot since the change made my work inconsistant and inconsistency in the art market is unacceptable. Some master painter said don't worry about style, everybody has one. He never met me. They are lively especially when painted as if passing through at a fast pace in a car. I'm so glad to see you back. I missed your daily surprises. But...the problem with it is it's too damn cold. But fashion boots and fall and winter fashions do help get you through it. I jest, but only a little. I do like a noticeable change of season. The change makes each special in its own way. As much as we do talk about moving to the warm, we have yet to decide where. Most of the places we've considered have summers that are too hot and too humid and too rainy. So we stay where there's diversification and travel when we need a splash of sunshine and a spot of sea. We must like where we are. And from the number of paintings and drawings of winter that I saw in my files yesterday, I would say I like winter no matter how much I bitch during a blizzard.Linda Rothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02833417183469551153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2153983949078742556.post-87012959252058700402013-10-10T08:32:06.636-04:002013-10-10T08:32:06.636-04:00I find it plenty bleak some days, others, there...I find it plenty bleak some days, others, there's a quiet peacefulness, a holiness about it that's very cozy and reassuring. When my boys were my boys, I used to get as excited as they did on snow days off from school. After tobogganing, we'd read the Oz books, always one more chapter, drink hot chocolate overloaded with miniature marshmallows and talk about the moral issues presented in the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. (I'll bet you didn't know there were some).Very close, sharing times happened then. On the other hand, winter is the best time to paint. Once the weather turns nice, I like to be out in it on my bike or swimming in the lake.
